After waiting an entire week with baited breath for the Walking Dead Season 6 finale, 9:00 on Sunday night finally came. I found myself filled with both excitement and angst all day long as another season of TWD drew to a close. The episode prior to the finale left us with a lot of questions. Did they just fucking kill Darryl off and not show us? I don’t know about you, but that cliffhanger killed me. Darryl is without a doubt the consensus favorite of all TWD characters if you ask me, therefore I was 90% positive he was still going to be alive. But still, nothing in certain in this life, so I was eager to get to the finale and get my answers.
Unfortunately, like most other aspects of my life, all I got was sheer and utter disappointment when the 90 minute finale concluded. My initial reaction was to just boycott the show altogether. I just have a tough time respecting a show that gives me two cliffhanging episodes in a row to end a season. It’s not like Game of Thrones where the season ends on a cliff hanger and your brain explodes into a thousand little pieces. I can deal with that because GOT is on a level all by themselves. You can get away with that shit when you strike gold like Thrones. But TWD is outta their minds if they think they can just get away with this lunacy. Yes, it’s a cool show, but half of the episodes go at a snails pace. I’ve dealt with it for 6 seasons now and last night just put me over the edge.
We finally get to meet Negan, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who CRUSHES this deranged character. We’ve been waiting all season long to meet this guy and from the looks of it, Negan is going to be the worst antagonist that we’ve met so far. All episode long Rick and company keep running into these road blocks set up by the saviors as they look for Carrol (get it the fuck together, Carrol!)and try to get Maggie to a doctor. At first, I loved the cat and mouse feel for most of the episode. I felt an action packed stand-off coming between the two groups that would most likely end in an important character’s death. The dialogue between Rick and one of the Saviors was so eerie, so intense. You could just feel the momentum building into something fantastic. Then, after an hour and 15 minutes of this, the Saviors trap literally every single person that isn’t in Alexandria. We casually find out in this scene that Darryl was shot last ep but not killed, all they do is show him covered in a blood soaked blanket with no words spoken. The finale ends with Negan playing a game of “eeny meenie miney mo” to decide who’s getting a barbed-wired baseball bat to the skull…pretty badass right? Yes, BUT THEY DON’T FUCKING SHOW WHO DIES!. So who is it? WHOS DEAD?!
Who fucking cares is my response to this. Every single character with Rick at Negan’s camp ground is well deserving of a dramatic death. A dramatic death that the audience should get to watch without waiting an entire year. You know it’s not Rick or Carl. It’s safe to assume their not gonna fake kill Darryl only to kill him the next episode. So my pissed off guess is Eugene. I just think Eugene officially had his run. He progressed from a conman-scumbag to decent survivor of the zombie apocalypse. He’s actually useful now, which is why I think he’s a goner. Can’t have too many able bodies. To sum it up, 90 minute finale NEEDS to have jucier content than this one had. Maybe im overreacting, but I just expect more from an AMC season finale. The intagibles were there, just not the execution. Can you imagine if they ended that episode with a pregnant/sick Maggie watching Glenn, father of said unborn child, get his skull bashed in by a laughing Negan? THAT’S how you end an episode. Take notes, Robert Kirkman, take notes.

HUTCH
EDITORS NOTE: I could not agree more with Hutch that this episode was a huge let down. There are some theories going around that it was Glenn that died, I guess thats how he goes in the comic and some theories are you can here Maggie screaming and the victim mutter "Mag.." while being beat. I honestly think it would be stupid if its Glenn that died, you can't tease a character dying like 50 times and then kill him off and not show it, I think Glenn just needs to survivor at this point. (I also just don't want to see Maggie heart broken).
