▪️Brewer: @CaptainLawrence (Elmsford, NY)
▪️Beer: Effortless Grapefruit IPA
▪️Style: Session IPA
▪️Alc. Content: 4.5% ABV (45 IBU)
▪️The Verdict: In the words of my spirit animal, Peter Gibbons (Office Space), "It's not that I'm lazy, it's that I just don't care." No one wants to be friends with an overachiever. Not only do they constantly make you look bad, but they are usually annoying as fuck. Let's face it, the whole goal in life is to get by with putting in as little effort as possible. Less is more. Once it hits Tuesday at noon I've already mailed it in for the week. Once you learn how to get by doing the bare minimum your life will be changed forever. It's a balancing act that is truly an art form. I work hard at hardly working. Snake it till you make it. That's what we preach here at M&F and as I write this blog in my cube I couldn’t help but segue into this week's craft beer, Captain Lawrence's "Effortless Grapefruit IPA."
Sometimes drinking beer is hard work. Sometimes it's the only exercise I get during the week. Getting up off the couch to grab them and racing back before the commercials are over. They constantly make you pee. Some of them are heavy and filling and push you to your physical limits, not to mention the toll that hundreds of high volume reps of twelve ounce curls take on your upper body. So why would you want to overexert yourself when you're trying to take a load off after a long day of doing nothing? Luckily Captain Lawrence has done the hard work for you. Sporting about the same ABV (4.5%) as a Bud Light they've created a grapefruit session IPA that you can slam in bunches, cause well know how important hydration is when you are "working out." The only "effortless" thing about this beer is how it drinks.
Upon popping open the can you're greeted by a nice grapefruit aroma which carries over to the taste which mixes in some nice fruit sweetness. It is well carbonated, almost to the point of a seltzer water or soda and is light on the palette as it doesn't try to overpower you with hops. This would be a nice low alcohol alternative if you like fruity IPA's a la Ballast Point Grapefruit Sculpin or Rebel Grapefruit. Could quite easily drink this all day, would be perfect on the beach during a hot summer day or maybe even at work on your lunch break if you're an overachiever. Just remember: LESS is MORE.
▪️M&F Rating: 7.9
