I am ashamed to admit that for about the first 22 years of my life I was scared to eat a roast beef sandwich. This is coming from a kid who legit grew up right down the street from Jillies Roadt Beef in Lowell, Ma one of the best roast beef stands around. Like I said, I'm ashamed. But before you rag on me too much let me explain why. I was about 5 years old and I was at the beach with the fam getting my tan on and riding some swells (beach bod was looking good) when my mom hands me a roast beef sandwich. Beach day was all down hill from there. I took one bite and started puking everywhere. (On the bright side my abs were popping after all the throwing up). It took me until about 22 to finally overcome my fear of roast beef and dig into a Jillies jumbo roast beef.
Anyways, I've recently been crushing roast beef sandwiches, making up for lost time. The pictured sandwich is from Kelly's roast beef. I've been hearing about how good Kelly's is for years and had actually ate there once but got a hamburger because I was still roastbeefphobic at the time. However, Kelly's roast beef did not disappoint this time around. The bun was soft and delicious and the roast beef was excellent. My only complaint is that they didn't add enough sauce. I like my roast beef like I like my sloppy Joes... extra sloppy!!
Since I'm relatively a newbie to the roast beef game, I figured I keep power rankings of the places I try. Here it is so far:
1. Jillies Famous Roast Beef (Lowell, MA)
2. Nicks Famous Roast Beef (Beverly, MA)
3.Kellys Roast Beef (Medford, MA)
4. The Alamo (Medford, MA)
