So I posted this on Instagram on St. Paddy’s day but didn’t really give a review. Made by yours truly, I’m sure to no ones surprise it was a 10! Was I also the one grading it? Irrelevant. I cook, I eat, I review, the kids a triple threat what can’t he do? But in all honestly, Corned Beef and Cabbage accompanied by a few Guinness’s is always a 10 on St. Paddy’s Day. Corned beef and cabbage is a meal I really only have once a year but that makes it even better.
I know you’re all going to be looking for my secret recipe here but you won’t get it. Because we all know the first rule about having a secret recipe is not talking about it. And I DO have a secret recipe… I will give some advice though; like blogging, life in the kitchen is a grind. I didn’t just become a master chef overnight; it took me a full year to learn this recipe! (And by full year I mean I made it last St. Paddy’s Day, fucked it up, and then tried again this year). You gotta mix and match ingredients, find out what works, what doesn’t. Who’s eating the meal? Are they vegetarians? Gluten free? Because if they are they are getting kicked the fuck out of M&F HQ!
Being Top Chef may sound glamorous but I’m telling you its hard work. Especially on St. Paddy’s Day when Irish Car Bombs are being served as appetizers four hours before the meal is even served. But I guess that would be my second piece of advise, the drunker you are, the better things taste, so get your guests drunk if you want good reviews. Inebriation Inflation! But all in all it was probably the best corned beef and cabbage I’ve ever had. Maybe the best meal I ever had! Tip of the hat to the chef…
