Making a triumphant return this week is another installment of Sleeper Movie Monday! I know many of the M&F loyalists have been cursing the absence under their breathes and from the bottom of my heart I’d like to extend a very sincere Hutch Apology.
From the glorious year of 2009 comes a fantastic thriller with a talented cast. A Perfect Getaway stars Timothy Olyphant, Steve Zahn, Mila Jovovich, and the smoking hot Kiele Sanchez. Also making an appearance is M&F favorite Chris Hemsworth. I gotta be honest here, Hemsworth should have had a much larger role in this film but this film was made before his stardom became prominent so what can you do I guess.
If you’ve never seen this film then I highly recommend it for one of those miserable hungover Saturday afternoons/ Sundays. One of my all-time favorite pastimes is watching a movie while I recover from alcohol withdrawals. Your brain is BARELY working but works just enough to stay tuned into the film. You’re not gonna be sitting there trying to predict what happens because you’re there for a very specific reason: To escape the reality of your hangover by enveloping yourself in the movie you’re watching. Throw a little joint in there and boom, once that movie starts you’re just along for the ride.
The movie follows two separate couples vacationing on the islands of Hawaii. The foursome really hit it off at first, but then they come to find out that a gruesome murder took place on one of the islands and the two couples quickly begin a cat mouse came of suspicion that’s a lot of fun.
So next time you’ve got hungover afternoon to kill, instead of thinking about all the wrong decisions you’ve made in your life up to that point and having a full blown panic attack, I would suggest putting on A Perfect Getaway and think about all the different ways you would fuck up a psychopathic killer’s day if they tried to ruin your relaxation/honeymoon on a tropical island. I know my list is quite long.
M&F Rating: 6.9
