I hope everybody enjoyed their Marathon Monday. About a quarter of the M&F workforce was able to make it out for the festivities, but luckily that’s plenty of manpower. I spent it living vicariously through snapchats, playing a few rounds of backyard golf, and going to bed at 8:00. You could say that things got a little out of hand. I held off on a SleeperMovie Monday post because I know how much it kills the M&F faithful to miss those. So today I bring you a special SleeperMovie Tuesday.
Fallen came out in 1998 and has a montage of electric actors. Fallen stars Denzel Washington, Donald Sutherland, M&F Hero John Goodman, and James Gandolfini. If you’re into agelology/demonology then this is a great movie for you. It’s creepy, and has at least some sense of theological accuracy.
Denzel plays Detective John Hobbes who’s after a sadistic serial killer named Edgar Reese. After Hobbes finally catches Reese, he’s sentenced to the gas chamber where Hobbes watches him get executed via gas chamber. However, after Hobbes thinks the worst is behind him, more killings begin to take place. These killings appear to be identical to the manner in which Reese used to kill his victims. Sensing more impending danger, Hobbes then embarks on a much more sinister quest as he tries to learns the truth behind all these killings. What he comes to find out is worse than he could have imagined. This movie offers a lot of twists and turns which I enjoyed as I do love some good suspense. It’s also one of those movies that hooks you right away, you don’t have to try and power through a boring ass introduction to the story. Give it a watch.
M&F Rating: 7.1
