If you’re lazy and need 10 hours of sleep a night like me you always run the risk of snoozin’ in the theaters when seeing a 945pm movie especially in those comfy AMC recliner chairs. So when I went to see the 945 showing of a PG Disney movie the other night I expected to have drool running down my chin half way through the movie, but boy was I wrong. You know why? Because Mowgli’s a fuckin’ badassss!!!! Outrunning evil tigers, riding stampede's, the Jungle Book had my heart racing from the first scene and never let up. It was probably the most cardio I’ve done in years just watching that kid run. That’s honestly gotta be the greatest role ever for a kid to play, just run around the jungle climbing tree’s and playing with animals, that’s every little kids dream.
The Jungle Book really had it all though. One second I’m looking into the eyes of an adorable baby wolf, the next I’m watching a badass black panther chase down a beast of a tiger. The CGI had me convinced I was in the Jungle, the snake scared the shit out of me, it offered the perfect mix of originality while still paying homage to the original cartoon through songs and visual stills, and unbeknownst to me, it had a star-studded cast. I mean Bill Murray was the perfect Baloo (Baloo crushed the M&F lifestyle) and Christopher Walken was a great King Louie, and they both most definitely killed their vocal performances.
This movie was a visual experience so I highly recommend you do it right, grab a large popcorn, soda, and see The Jungle Book in IMAX 3D.
